Results Vienna 2026

During the Erasmus+ 2026 week in Vienna we carried out an experiment on genetic fingerprinting (cutting of DNA using RFLP enzymes and separation by electrophoresis) in internationally mixed small groups. We learned about the theoretical background of the experiment by presentations hold by students, shooting a video and constructing a model of the experiment. The experiment was completed by an intense discussion of the results.

During the whole meeting English was used as the working language. As part of the program, Viktoria Berndorfer MA, a former student of Kollegium Kalksburg and participant in the Erasmus program, from the Medical University of Vienna delivered a lecture on “Antibiotic resistance prediction by machine learning”. To introduce the international students to Viennese culture we visited the St. Stephens cathedral (including catacombs!) and the Vienna zoo and other renowned tourist destinations in Vienna. By presenting our countries and living in host families, we managed to gain a better understanding of each other.
